Marla Gibbs spoke about being friends with Rosa Parks, who used to come to the set of ‘The Jeffersons’ for a while. She noted that she didn’t talk to Rosa Parks about her role in the Civil Rights Movements, and also said the bus situation wasn’t as big of a thing as they made it out to be. Gibbs said Parks was simply just tired, which is what led her to sit down on the bus.
From there, when asked whose ideals she identified with more: Malcolm X or Martin Luther King - Gibbs said Martin. Gibbs also spoke about creating a space in Leimert Park for African-Americans to be in, that was also open to other folks.
